In a world with ever-increasing demands for energy and chemical commodities, catalysis plays a key role in making chemical production processes more energy efficient, transforming renewable energy sources into more useful forms and minimizing the environmental impact derived from energy use.

Our group, led by Dr. Sheima Khatib, performs research focusing on diverse aspects of heterogeneous catalysis, at the atomic and nanoscale level. Our studies include catalyst synthesis, structural characterization, and kinetic testing, as well as catalytic reactor engineering, applied to chemically sustainable catalytic processes with industrial and energy applications. Our mission is to prepare novel optimized catalysts for efficient chemical conversion that can answer technological demands and societal challenges.
